The Norwegian Customs Service can detain suspected pirated copies of, among other things, a trademark, design or patent. If, as the owner of such rights, you suspect that they have been infringed, you can send an application for assistance to Norwegian Customs.

New application for assistance
Chapter 15 of the Customs Act on intellectual property rights will be amended from 1 July 2021. From the same date, you apply for assistance in Altinn.

Change/application for extension of list of intellectual property rights for current application
You can:
- add and change information in the application.
- add more intellectual property rights.
- extend existing decisions within 30 business days before the end of the current assistance period.
- create a new form based on previous submissions.

An application is approved for twelve months at a time. You will not find applications submitted before 1 July 2021 in the archive, and you must select the form option "new application", first time. Applications submitted via the old system will apply until expiration and you do not need to do anything related to them.
Application after you have received notification of detention
If you receive a notification of detained goods from Norwegian Customs without having applied for assistance, you can fill in a simplified application. You must apply within four business days after the notification was issued.
Login
If you have a Norwegian national identity number or D number, you log in to Altinn with electronic identification, for example BankID, MinID etc.
PLEASE NOTE! We recommend that you log in to Altinn as an "accounting officer". You then save the application in the company's records. If you use your personal user, no one but you will be able to see the application in the records.
