If you have imported or received goods that should have been declared to the Customs Authority, you must submit an application to retrospectively declare these goods. This also applies if you intend to sell a product in Norway that should have been declared at the time of import.
Examples of goods may include watches, clothing, mobile phones, jewelry, cars, boats, and more.
The application should be submitted via the contact form and marked "Application for retrospective declaration for private individuals."
Before you send the application, you must provide a receipt of the purchase or other documentation that confirms what has been imported into Norway and the value of the goods. The documentation must also show that you are the rightful owner. This documentation must be attached to the application.
The application must include information on:
- Who are you?
- What is the item?
- What is the value of the item?
- Why was the item not declared upon import?
- When was the item imported?
- If you did not import the item, who did?
After the case has been processed, you will receive a decision with information on where you need to go to clear the item through customs and any additional fees/charges you must pay for failing to declare the item initially.
